Re: VK5RBV to come back at Full steam

Yes SKI, P.A is on in class C all the time, I kept the Audio/ control board in there but cut the traces going to the Audio Amp and the other regulator so they can not mysteriously cause a fault. Also removed the change over relay in the P.A and put a wire link in its place. By doing this I keep the ...

Re: VK5RBV to come back at Full steam

Hi Ski, I did not try to add the keying cct from the ZL2BKC board as I was in a major hurry to get it on air before our trip to Egypt (now back from 2 weeks away). It had occurred to me afterwards that the pre-driver on the P.A board is supplied from a separate 10 volt reg supply (controlled by R7 o...

Re: VK5RBV to come back at Full steam

Thanks for the tip SKI, have not run across many PRM80's from low band. VK5RBV, 50.456 MHz, 1 min CW 1 min JT65A, about 12 W into the original HALO antenna, 27th Oct 2019. Sounds OK at home and 5BC said it was strong at his place.. VK5RBV, 144.456 MHz, 1 min CW 1 min JT65B, about 15 W into single a ...

Re: VK5RBV to come back at Full steam

Well, it has been a while, found the Mitsubishi module on 50.456 was dead, not a board fault Hmmph. Went looking of a replacement module, nope, no longer available. A new version is advertised out in Google land but only people with stock seem to be China and I am not willing to take that gamble. (M...

Hi John et all, that version of the VK5 preamp was designed by vk5zja and were promoted and made available through the then VK5 Equipment Supply committee (ESC) for may years (part of the then local WIA branch). The ESC was one of those volunteer run groups that reveled in finding rare parts and mak...

Hi Hayden, before you replace it, can you see coil voltage on it change when you select rear panel / front panel from the menu as they should CLICK when you change in the menus?

Re: Tesla battery wall v 2.0

Okay, now for the bad news, after the first few days of really cloudly weather at the start where the battery did not completely charge, the sun has come out and now the battery gets to 100%. It would seem that once at 100% charge, it goes into a different mode and the bands of RF noise starts acros...

Re: Tesla battery wall v 2.0

Hi, here is an update, the Tesla PowerWall 2 is in and it works. Of course it is terrible cloudy weather at present as not seen it get to 100% reserve yet but first few nights we were 90% self powered by the PowerWall with little coming from the grid (included cooking a roast in the electric oven). ...

Tesla battery wall v 2.0

Hi about to embark on the install of a version 2 Tesla battery wall as I want my power consumption from the shack to not come from the grid overnight. Have taken a bit of a RFI base line and hope not to see any big birdies or wide band noise after the install. This has all come about after my failed...

Hi, it has been some time since the last post here, things have just been doodling along here at home with little change needed to the way the PI works. In the last few days I have seen the notices that a new version of the raspberry PI is about to hit the market and it is claimed to be 3 times fast...

Re: Icom IC-9700 users topic

Hello. would like to confirm the Rx coverage on 144 for a 9700 from some one that has one in front of them, is it strictly 144-148 or does it tune a little bit outside of the published limits, the reason I ask is that I regularly listen to the 143.050 French RADAR off the moon and losing that would ...

Hi Adam, that is a curly one, so there is an output device but no input device, still sounds like device security even though I know in my head there should be none on Win 7 for those devices. . . Do you by any chance have JTDX installed any where or MSHV as they are both based on the WSJT-X base co...

Re: WSJT USB Audio Sources???

Hi Adam hang on a second, the audio and the virtual serial devices are two different things.... the virtual serial is what needed the icom driver originally (I think Win 10 finds them without the driver, it does for my 7100 and 7600) and the audio devices are a separate thing and need no such driver...
