WSPR 28 MHz

Postby VK2KRR » Sat May 14, 2011 8:03 am

There has been quite a good number of operators running 28 MHz WSPR during the day the past few weeks and the numbers increasing slowly. The more stations on the more interesting it becomes.

Saturday morning 14.5.11, at 8 am we already have 5 stations on 28 MHz WSPR waiting to see what the days propagation will bring :
VK2KRR
VK3MIR
VK3XPT
VK7AB
VK7DIK

At 9.30am
VK2KRR
VK2XN
VK3MIR
VK7AB

With VK7AB Glenn pulling in a big lot of US stations right now.

VK2QW
VK2XN
VK3MIR
VK3XPT
VK4MIL
VK5PJ
VK6BN

OK so at days end, 6.30pm EST the VK stations on 28 WSPR today were :

VK2BLS
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK2XN
VK3MIR
VK3XPT
VK4MIL
VK4KSY
VK5BC
VK5KGP
VK5PJ
VK6BN
VK6DZ
VK6GOS
VK6ZD
VK7AB
VK7DIK

Great to see so many stations getting on WSPR 28, despite the SFI getting low, its really interesting watching the propagation.
In the late afternoon some stations had signals from Europe, Russia, Japan, South Africa. And internal VK paths.

Some had also been on WSPR 50 MHz, but no luck there.

Hi Folks, an interesting day on WSPR 28, and this is the list of ops who were giving it a run for the rest of Sunday :
(my apologies if any mistakes, as I have to sort through what may be incorrectly reported spots from other bands at times)

VK2BLS
VK2FLR
VK2KRR
VK2XN
VK3SMC
VK3XPT
VK4EK
VK4MIL
VK6ADF
VK6BN
VK6DZ
VK6GOS
VK6ZD
VK6ZRY
VK7AB
VK8TH

15 stations. Good stuff. And was good to have VK8TH on air to provide a signal from the top end. No VK5s today. The afternoon saw the band open up a bit to EU areas, but not real strong. There were no Japan stations on today from what I could see either which is a shame.
No 50 MHz signals passed today in VK either.
The weeks stats will be posted up soon.

Well with quite a dive in the solar flux over the past week conditions are really dropping away on 28 MHz WSPR. SFI as at Sat morning is only 84 and looks to be dropping further.

This mornings active operators at 9.15am have been -

VK2KRR
VK3XPT

With ZL3PX making a showing also.

So far there has been very weak sporadic propagation to the west coast USA and thats about it.

Next update around lunch time.

Stations active -

VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK3XPT
VK4ZBV
VK6DZ

VK2EMA with a pipeline to NN6RF so it would seem. Weak prop to west USA and some JA's.

Wrapping up Saturdays WSPR 28 efforts.

Stations on air (8) -

VK2EMA
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK3XPT
VK4ZBV
VK6DZ
VK6ZRY
VK7AB

After 2pm the band got a little better into the USA, JA came on again. Mark VK2EMA had a literal pipeline running to NN6RF when other VK's were hearing nothing. Unfortunately I was the only station able to pick up or be heard in EU today. This occured after about 5pm local time till about 7pm. The only station I could hear was DL4MFC. A couple of others could hear me.
The usual E skip to VK6DZ was also not present today.

Quite a windy Sunday morning from here, but still trying out 28 MHz WSPR. SFI still at 84.
At 10 am this morning, stations so far are (4):

VK2KRR
VK3XPT
VK6DZ
VK7AB

Not a lot heard but there is a weak path to USA. Probably a little bit better than yesterday so far.

WOW what an excellent Sunday aftenoon/evening on 28 MHz WSPR! 8)

As at 6.30pm we have had (10) -

VK2BLS
VK2EMA
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK3SMC
VK3XPT
VK5WR
VK6DZ
VK6ZD
VK7AB

 Bit of a surprise this evening on 28 WSPR! Some really good signals coming in from about 3.30pm to 6pm from European areas. Not much interference from Indonesian areas helped also. Simon started things off being heard by OZ7IT 2011-05-22 05:20 VK3SMC 28.126089 -21 -1 QF22oc 5 OZ7IT JO65df 16034 314. Earlier on USA signals were going OK.
At 6.30pm eastern time signals were still working in the west, with MrDZ still keeping the dream alive for VK - 2011-05-22 08:30 VK6DZ 28.126074 -19 0 OF84ux 10 OZ7IT JO65df 14072 317 . And Looking like Jorgen OZ7IT showing what a good station he has on 10m being the first and probably the last station to provide a report from VK.

:D Weekend is here again and some more WSPR 28 reporting!
During the week the solar flux dived to a low of 80, that I saw. Luckily this morning its jumped back to 90  the X-rays have also been going a bit crazy this morning also. Having said that the international DX on 28 WSPR is still off a bit this morning, only weak to USA and some weak local Es.

Stations on 28 WSPR this morning as at 11am -

VK1HW
VK2BLS
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK5WR
VK6DZ
VK7AB

Will see how things go later in the day, next report about 2pm.

G'day folks, well at 2.30pm we have had the following operators on.

VK1HW
VK2BLS
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK2XN
VK4MIL
VK5WR
VK6DZ
VK6ZRY
VK7AB

Not many signals have made it between stations since the morning report. An occasional signal has made it across the Pacific but not many at all. Glenn VK7AB snuck one in at 2011-05-28 04:22 N7GLS 28.126112 -21 0 CN85qo 5 VK7AB QE37ne 13254 237 .
The solar activity is picking up so would expect things to improve soon. More updates after sundown.

Can really give a final WSPR 28 report for Saturday, as the server has been down since about 4pm or so and is still off now.

All I can tell you is that I made it to OZ7IT from 0548 to 0646 UTC. But I heard nothing here.
I received an email from OZ7IT, thats how I know.

See you in the morning.

Hi Folks, Luckily the WSPR server came back on about 11am Sunday.
Due to the server problems, not as many stations on in the USA today. Initially when the server came back a few of us got JA3BJZ. But thats about it.
The solar flux has jumped back to 101 now and a lot of Auroral activity past 12 hours possibly causing slight radio blackouts.

Stations on since the server came back up till 2.40pm :

VK1HW
VK2BLS
VK2DLI
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK3SMC
VK4KSY
VK6DZ
VK7AB

All we can do is hope the afternoon EU paths come up.

Good morning folks and another weekend is here!
Its a drizzly wet morning here at The Rock and only 10 degC.
The solar flux is currently at 107.

Saturday morning 10m band WSPRers as at 11am EST are (10) -

VK1HW
VK2BLS
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK2XN
VK3SMC
VK3XPT
VK4FIL
VK6DZ
VK7AB

The only signals on 28 WSPR venturing into VK this morning has been earlier on from K6LG. Which actually didn't decode here, but Wayne VK2XN got him OK. Other than this its been rather quiet.
Next report after lunch sometime around 2pm.

Hi all a 3pm Saturday report. Still raining here.
Conditions not real flash still on 28 WSPR, very weak paths to USA and Japan. A couple of across the Bight signals to VK6 is all.

Stations on air today as at 3pm (13) -

VK1HW
VK2BLS
Vk2GOM
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK2XN
VK3SMC
VK3XPT
VK4EGE
VK4FIL
VK4KSY
VK6DZ
VK6ZT
VK7AB

Hopefully we get a few EU signals as the sun heads further west.

Evening all. The rain stopped here for a nice Saturday sunset.

On 28 WSPR the stations who were on today were (17) -

VK1HW
VK2BLS
Vk2GOM
VK2KRR
VK2QW
VK2XN
VK2ZMT
VK3SMC
VK3XPT
VK3XQ
VK4EGE
VK4FIL
VK4KSY
VK6DZ
VK6ST
VK6ZT
VK7AB

Not a bad roll up of stations today, nice to see so many taking advantage of the WSPR fun. Unfortunately not to much fun today as the conditions were not the best. Most paths were rather weak, with sporadic weak USA path till about 2pm EST and weak JA path about this time, later VK6DZ was first to break into the EU area, but again only a few weak paths available which were not spread around real evenly. Thats the way it goes, will just have to see how things pan out tomorrow, you just never know.
