New Feature: 2m WSPR details

Postby ADMIN » Wed Dec 24, 2014 1:39 am

Hi all

Some new fields have been added to the VK Logger Users' database, to cater for the 2m WSPR operators.

Via User Control Panel > My Profile, you can now enter;

• your 2M WSPR frequency (in MHz) eg: 144.490123

• your method of locking (No Ref Lock/GPS/Rubidium/OCXO)

• your current 2M WSPR activity status (No/yes)

click for full-size

Don't forget to click "Save Changes", then click the Image next to the Save Changes button to exit out of the UCP screen.

These operator-entered details can be seen on the "Operator Info" page by others interested in 2m WSPR.

To seek out other 2m WSPR operators, select Active on 2m WSPR

Be conscious of search filters, such as "Active on VK Logger", "last 30 days".
Active operators will most likely have been on, in the last 30 days anyway:

click for full-size

Leaving the "for" field blank is a wildcard, meaning it will return all relevant entries.
However, you can narrow this search down.
eg: By entering "VK5" into that box, it will only return the Callsigns beginning with "VK5" who are active on 2m WSPR:

click for full-size

When drilling down, and selecting a Full Profile to view, the 2m WSPR details are also seen in the Station Details area:

Remember, bullshit in = bullshit out. }:[
This information is only as good as what VK Logger members enter.

With thanks to Leigh, VK2KRR, for keeping a list, I have populated the following data into the respective user fields:

VK2KRR wrote:Jayson VK1JA - 144.490570 (GPS)
Leigh VK2KRR - 144.490560 (GPS)
Jeff VK5GF - 144.490530 (GPS)
Andy VK5LA - 144.490515 (Rubidium)
Keith VK5AKM - 144.490500 (OCXO I think?)
Wayne VK2XN - 144.490500 (GPS)
Derek VK6DZ - 144.490.485 (GPS)
Scott VK4CZ - 144.490470 (GPS)
Peter VK5PJ - 144.490.460 (GPS)
Dean VK3NFI - 144.490450 (GPS)
Phil VK5AKK - 144.490??? (OCXO I think?)

Note these fields are for 2m, so don't attempt to put other WSPR frequencies in (ie 6m).

If there is enough interest, fields for 6m WSPR and extra scripting can also be added to accommodate this.

Hi Admin,

Thanks for this - what service !!!

I am not yet "locked" for wspr mode - but I have all the bits for using one of my Rb FSs to lock an FT847.

Just need to get a round tuit...

Best Wishes for Xmas and the New Year

and thanks for providing the Logger and the Forum - all your work is much appreciated.

Many thanks Admin - this is brilliant and I will enter my own details. And Dave VK3HZ has shared some more excellent observations and reports which I totally accept and will, in the fullness of time, try and comment further upon. cheers Grant

 Thanks Admin,

My ref locked info has been added for all bands.
It might be handy for some if there was box for the referenced WSPR frequency on 6m also.
Just a thought.

Thanks Admin, awesome work, and very useful too!

I can see there being a benefit for this to be included for 6m as well, just a quick look on the 6m WSPR map shows how many people use 6m WSPR, but it is very seasonal and most radios don't need locking on 6m... 6 of one, half a dozen of the other...

Thanks for your work on the forums over the last year, have a good Christmas.
