LilacSat-2

Post by VK4WDM » Fri Jul 29, 2016 7:37 pm

Anyone in VK worked or heard this bird? I have listened on several passes and not heard any activity or its beacon?

Hi Wayne,

I've never heard activity on it or heard the beacon.

Going by http://www.amsat.org/status/ it's a bit of a bit and miss.

Maybe the it hasn't finished with any experiments it was doing?

Cheers

Jayson

OK Jayson, I guess it is watch and wait until a definite pattern emerges.

Hi Wayne,

I have had a couple of contacts through Lilacsat-2 shortly after its launch but it has remained switched off for most of the time since then. The primary mission is not amateur radio so I suppose they have been conserving resources.

Recently however it reappeared for an orbit or so as a linear transponder and a few European and American stations reported QSO's through it. Clearly the university students are gaining experience configuring software defined radios.

Have a look at:
