I would suggest that anyone interested in receiving SSTV images from the ISS to start getting your SSTV equipment prepared and ready. Whilst it has not been confirmed, it is likely that another Russian SSTV event could be scheduled at short notice in the coming days - possibly commencing around 11th - 12th of April. In the past the downlink frequency of 145.800 has been used and this is not expected to change, however the format is unknown at this stage so just set MMSSTV to auto.

Yuri Gagarin in Vostok 1, the first man in space is the 12th of April 1961.
I might guess SSTV may be turned on. It is 55 years since the space race
with manned flight began.

I am using a J Pole to a Masthead Pre-amp and a very old FDK Multi 2000 set to 145.800
on Wide FM ( 3kc of Doppler shift ) Program MMSSTV on auto. Last time it was PD180
mode now they are talking of PD120 ( Jan -Feb 2016 )

The following info posted to ISS Fan Club website -
The schedule is shaping up to look like this:

Setup and activation on April 11 about 18:25 UTC.
Paused April 12 from 12:15 until 14:15 UTC to allow for a school contact with Romania.
Paused April 13 from 12:45 until 14:30 UTC to allow for a school contact with Argentina.
Deactivation on April 14 at 11:35 UTC.
This opportunity should cover most of the world during the operational period. The image transmissions should be on 145.800 MHz and the mode is planned to be PD180.

In addition, MAI-75 will be conducting two sessions afterwards. The first one is April 14 from 14:45 until 18:00 UTC. The second session is on April 15 from 14:10 until 19:00 UTC. These times do not cross N. America but will provide opportunities for Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia and S. America.

Well done Murray!
As you are no doubt aware the crew encountered some technical issues resulting in a delayed start to the planned event.

Received this one at 7.05am (local) this morning.

It's pretty cool hearing and watching it come down knowing it's coming from the International Space Station.

Super simple setup here - just a vertical antenna and a TS2000.

Well I got no idea what I'm doing wrong but it seems ever time the ISS fly's over I haven't heard a peep out of it. Yes I know how it works as I'm a full time digital mode user and SSTV is one of the modes used. I got the right freq and antenna is hooked up I got the kep's up to date in the satellite tracker the audio from the signalink is set right but still no images. This has never happened before as I got good images from the ISS in the past.
Weird.

I'm super stoked. I listened to the pass yesterday with my kids. So this morning I installed some decoding software and managed to grab these. First SSTV decoding ever, made all the more exciting that it was the ISS.

Robert VK4LHD - Check to see you have the mode PD180 selected as PD180 is not generally a default mode.
To check, hover your mouse over the RX MODE vertical column and right click your mouse. Select PD180 if not already selected.

Thanks Shane but been there done that. Even when the ISS is in range I can listen to the audio (squelch off and hearing nothing but the static) and not hear a peep out of it. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. The Freq set to 145.800 I tried the vertical antenna at full overhead and both Vert and Yagi when it's in low MEL and still nothing. I've used the Icom IC-910h and the IC-7000 and even a scanner on the discone antenna is not hearing it. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong or why I'm not getting anything because I was getting brilliant SSTV images from the ISS last year off the vertical into the 910H. It's like the antenna is not connected during the pass.

Hi Robert,

If your station is hearing other stations (people) ok on 2m then the only things I can think of is that your radio is vastly off frequency or (most likely) there is a problem with the tracking software/keps. Ie. the software thinks the ISS is doing a pass overhead but it's actually not.

When transmitting SSTV, the ISS is 60+dB here on a simple vertical, so you'll be able to hear it on a hand held outside with no problems.

Hope you get it sorted ok.

EDIT: try punching your details into the AMSAT pass predictor and see if it corresponds with what your software thinks of when the ISS is doing a pass overhead - http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/tools/predict/index.php

i could hear it clearly inside on the hand held Robert so i'm not sure whats happening as i'm not that far from you

You are on FM ???

I am with Andrew on this one. If you have tried all of the usual fault finding and you are still not hearing any SSTV tones during a pass then check your prediction software. They did a re-boost yesterday but I am not sure when you first noted the problem.

I hope you get it sorted as the current SSTV program will cease soon.
