Web SDR

Postby VK6ADF » Sun May 11, 2008 2:30 am

I just listened to the WIA news broadcast and heard the item about the Web based SDR (Software Defined Radio). So I looked it up and tried it out. The link for anyone else wanting to try is

http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/

It is based in Europe (Holland) on 40 metres and 80 metres.

Being a SDR it can handle multiple users at the same time. I read on one page about this, the writer was among 24 all on at the same time, all listening to different frequencies.

Also have a look at the further information page...

The photo of their Quadrature Mixer and Filter setup is an eye opener and temporary. (so they say)

I came across this old post so I thought I'd look at the site. They've certainly improved things a bit. I now does 7 bands and, when I looked, there were 75 simultaneous users.

Thanks to Simon HB9DRV and a bunch of SDR-IQ owners you can now log into SDRs all over the place. Simon is the author of Ham Radio Delux and he has written a program to talk to the SDR-IQ but he has added a server mode as well. SDR-Radio can be downloaded from http://sdr-radio.com/ it's still very BETA but has been improving over the last couple of months. So you don't need a SDR-IQ to play just download and enter "Input Source" and then "Remote via Network". The menu tha pops up lets you find what SDRs are active. Put the details in and away it goes.
