Otways/BeechForest VK3ROW repeater update: yeah, yeah, yeah it's been off since June 2009 and yes I've kept extending the time that I said we'd have it back on air. There's been a few other distractions along the way and we're taking the extra time to ensure we try and solve all of the problems that this repeater has encountered. The intent was to make it more reliable, fix the QRM and explore any options to improve the coverage. So there's no further need to send me emails, both light-hearted and bad, wanting updates about this project. Even though I'm relying on other parties for various stages, I initiated this project, it was my idea and it is my doing, so there's no need to blame anyone else except me for the slow progress. The highest priority is to decrease or eliminate all QRM - and if this means taking extra time or exploring all options available, then so be it. If everything goes to plan, I reckon there's a very good chance to have it running by mid January 2010. Our intent is to make it worth the wait and to re-launch it as a premier repeater once again.
Like many repeater sites, there's a few things to deal with, like vermin residue, vermin access, environmental fluctuations, adjacent high-power pager transmitters, etc, etc.
Thanks for being patient and please accept my apologies for the time taken thus far.
Cheers,
