VK Logger changes - deletions & edits

Postby VK4CP » Sat Dec 26, 2009 7:00 am

Hi all, and seasons greetings!

Some changes you should be aware of when posting on VK Logger.

POST DELETE

As of now, you cannot totally delete your posts - they are in the database to stay.
This has been requested numerous times before by others who are finding it difficult to follow a line of conversation, particularly when viewing the history.

Regular Logger users can "Soft delete" posts from appearing on the main Logger page.
This is useful for clearing off transient chit chat from the main logger page... to minimise clutter.
These posts are still retained in the database however, and visible on the history page, along with your IP address.

So, do not post in anger!
You might later regret posting something stupid or inappropriate!
Think before you post!

Admin and Moderators retain the ability to "Hard Delete" content from the databases.
This will continue to happen, ie; periodic flushing out of the "GM all" and "Hi how are you" type posts that do not really benefit anyone in the future.

POST EDIT

To fix typos or any other errors, users can still edit their posts.
This is handy if a wrong grid square, callsign, or frequency was entered.
All users are encouraged to edit any incorrect information, please. It only takes a few seconds to fix, and keeps the data in VK Logger credible.

Edited posts will appear in the main Logger page, as before, but as of now, the original entry will be retained and visible on the history page.
ie; you will see the original chat entry beneath the most recent version.

Enjoy :D
