Re: Aligning a Rotator

Hi Crompton,

A little from left field - I align my az and el rotators to the sun or moon. If your tracking software has an option to track the moon then set it tracking the moon and adjust the poles in the rotators so your antenna's point to the moon.

Hope that helps.

Re: In-line joining of coax

Hi Colin,

RG-58 is quite thin when it comes to inline joining without the use of connectors. There are ways of inline joining hardline which can be 'ok'.

Are you able to use N connectors to join the two pieces?

Re: SSTV from ISS

Hi Robert, If your station is hearing other stations (people) ok on 2m then the only things I can think of is that your radio is vastly off frequency or (most likely) there is a problem with the tracking software/keps. Ie. the software thinks the ISS is doing a pass overhead but it's actually not. W...

Re: SSTV from ISS

Received this one at 7.05am (local) this morning.

It's pretty cool hearing and watching it come down knowing it's coming from the International Space Station.

Super simple setup here - just a vertical antenna and a TS2000.

Re: NBS Tilt Over Mast Experiences

Brian has just made a 3 stage telescopic mast that slides into the tilting base so you do not have the 8 meter long SHS up all the time. The height is then lowered to 6.5 meters when in the vertical and extends up to over 12.5 meters tall when extended............... There are also several other mo...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Hi All, Are the switcher blank boards (http://vk3atl.org/3.4GHz%20switcher%20V1.1.pdf) available for purchase, or is there anyone making up a batch of them - if so, put me down for three of them! EDIT - I just noticed that they are listed as 'out of stock' on the club website, so they do sell them, ...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Hi Lou, Thanks for the quick reply. Yep, my bad about the filters, I see now that both are in the rx line! The good thing is that means there may be a bit more to come in the rx :) The 10dBm output was with -4dBm of drive, as outlined in the tx testing. To tell you the truth we didn't even try incre...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Has anyone experienced a panel with very low output? We ran the first one I've been converting on the bench yesterday and while the rx is very good, the tx is only outputting 10dBm (10mW). A load has always been on the output when powered up, so maybe it's just a dead PA? I have noticed that this pa...

Re: What's on your Workbench?

Very nice setup, impressive that it can be setup and packed up so fast. I'm wondering what your method is to get the best accuracy out of the G5500, is there a nack to the calibration other than what is listed in the manual - any way to take up a bit of the slack in the gears etc? Have you thought a...

Re: SG Lab 23cm Transverter - Anyone heard of them?

G'day All, Just a quick update on the SG Labs 13cm (2.4Ghz) transverter. As was the case with the SG Labs 23cm transverter, the 13cm version also works very very well for such a small package. 2w out on 13cm is plenty to make good contacts with (and enough to drive an amp with), and being so small a...

Re: 2.4Ghz Grid Antennas

Hi Darrell,

Good find with the link, I'm tempted to grab one as a spare :)

On another note, has your 13cm SG Labs transverter turned up yet? I did my fist qso on 13cm the other week on the SG Labs transverter, it worked very well!

Re: 10Ghz Panel Antenna?

I just found a youtube clip of the panel without the front cover on it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR-AIwR6AuA

Action starts at 36seconds in, and it's NOT in English.

Seems to be a patch panel design ?

10Ghz Panel Antenna?

G'day All, I did the usual 'stop past the recycling depo't after I dropped load of green waste off at the tip the other day and came across this - a satellite flat panel antenna with a frequency range of 10.7Ghz to 12.75Ghz. Being a curious fiddler I did a quick google search and came up with this s...

Re: Re-radiation from antennas?

If antenna's pose a 're-radiation' threat then I think we're all doomed, as it wouldn't just be antenna's that re-radiate. Anything metal (light poles, letter boxes, gates, fences, power cords etc) would all be a problem !! And if they did re-radiate they would have to do so whilst having 'gain' oth...

Re: Suitability of an IC-706 on 2m WSPR

Hi Nev,

If it's a bit drifty on tx you can still rx WSPR with no problems, don't rule that out.

If the radio is off freq a little it might take a bit to work out what your dial freq should be, but it'll be worth it.

Give it a try. You, like many, could get hooked :)

Such an impressive device for the cost and size. I've really got to get off my butt and learn how to program one of these little beasts, then get my creative mind going and translate that into a project of some sort.
