Re: What's on your Workbench?

Work is slowly progressing with the 23cm LNA and 13cm transverter/lna projects. The 23cm and 13cm lna's will be mounted in a carrier class enclosure. The 23cm lna is a G4DDK type with the 13cm lna being a minikits version. I've left space in the enclosure for either a pair of 2m/70cm lna's, or if I ...

Great stuff Andy,

I'll be monitoring both 2m and 70cm.

Good luck with the launch.

Re: What's on your Workbench?

Very nice work, Lou. It looks professionally built!

Is there a kit version or circuit boards/front panel available for purchase (I searched the EMDRC website with no luck)?

Re: LilacSat-2

Hi Wayne,

I've never heard activity on it or heard the beacon.

Going by http://www.amsat.org/status/ it's a bit of a bit and miss.

Maybe the it hasn't finished with any experiments it was doing?

Cheers

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Thanks Tim, this will help a lot! Also, for the -50dBm input (@3400Mhz) when testing/peaking the rx, what sort of output is everyone getting at the 444Mhz side to the transceiver? Or, with -50dBm input what rough S reading are people getting on their radios - noting that S meters on radios can be va...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Thanks Tim, this will be a big help. Tonight I'll make sure there's power getting to the preamp stage and test for conductivity between the two spots you've marked, as it 'may' have gone open when removing the can. If you could make a few typical voltage measurements it would be great help for every...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Hi Dave, Thanks for the info. I'd had a look at the pictures in the how to instructions, and it appears that all components are still intact. Although I've uploaded a picture of the panel in question - if you can see anything glaringly wrong please let me know! I've marked in red where I have solder...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Has anyone come across any panels with dead rx pre amps? We have two panels showing the same fault. Feeding a 3.4Ghz signal into the antenna yields no signal, but feeding it straight into the beginning of the mixer stage (after the rx pre amp) the signal is present. Even waving a probe around the mi...

+1

There's a big hole in the market at the moment and if Icom filled this hole they would make a killing - I would buy one in a flash.

G'day Tim, Great talk you did on the panels at Gippstech, thanks for sharing the progress you've had with them and the software  Just as a quick update on the fault I have with a panel that the filters aren't peaking the rx - after hearing what Tim mentioned that in some cases the tracks go...

Re: NBS Tilt Over Mast Experiences

G'day Steve, Sounds good with your setup! Looks like timing might be in my favor this time, I've arranged with Brian for us to stop in on our way from VK1 to GippsTech, it'll give me a change to chat to Brian and have a look at his new extendable mast that fits into the tilt over base he has. P.S> 2...

If anyone has anymore tips, feel free to share here

Re: NBS Tilt Over Mast Experiences

From what I can tell from pictures online, the mast support extends down into the hole, maybe 1.8 to 2m, so specs don't appear to call for the need of reo.

Thanks to VK3YY for this write up - https://vk3yy.wordpress.com/2015/11/03/ ... nnas-mast/

Re: NBS Tilt Over Mast Experiences

This may be a question for a new thread, but it relates to the NBS Mast so I'll try here first. Planning has started on redesigning the back yard, and all going well with approvals, I'll be putting in a NBS Mast. Where I'd like to install the mast is about 2m away from a double brick retaining wall ...

Re: 160m resonator kit for Butternut HF9V

Hi Wayne,

I wonder if this design could be adopted for a Hustler 6BTV - I presume the HF9V and 6BTV are loaded 1/4 waves on 80m?

If so, this interests me :)

Re: Cheap eBay 2m Amps

Another version has popped up on eBay, listed as a 170w FM 80-180Mhz amp for abou $70-80.

Not sure if it's linear (ok for SSB), let's see what we can dig up.

If they are 170w and linear, two combined would be nice.

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Great stuff, Tim. I'll be there and might have to take notes. One thing I've noticed with one of my panels is that the screws in the filters don't seem to do much with peaking the rx. The first screw peaks the signal well, but the other screws don't seem to do much. I've reduced the signal to see if...

You're a braver man than I

Did it keep all your installed programs? It scares me to think that I have to reload all the programs I have in Win7.

Glad it went well, I haven't taken the plunge yet, but I think the day is getting closer.

Hi Tim,

A 'how to reprogram the panel' talk would be great!

I wonder if any retuning of the circuit is needed in any way.

Cheers
