That could not be right because the spoon will bend before it balances.

Very interesting all the same.

Wayne,

Try googling "magnet wire" and select "Australia" in the search tools, there are a few there if all else fails.

Re: Callsign versus Licence grades...

I herd (sorry) somewhere some blokes chewing the cud (sorry again) over this some years ago re holders of standard or advanced licensees not being qualified to get a foundation license unless they pass the practical exam as that is part of the qualification? I don't know why anyone would want to any...

Re: Windom Antenna Adjustments - help please

Well I had some time today to read up on antenna fundermentals and discovered something interesting. American articles on "OCF Dipoles" {see.. PC now !} use the formula of L= 468/F (Mhz) e.g. 468/7.1 Mhz = 65.9154 Feet However, I use the more scientific measure of a metric (rather than the length o...

Thanks for sharing this with us Chas and very well done.

Would you happen by any chance to know what the point of the exercise was?

I looked at it briefly and quickly put it in the too hard basket so good on you, how did the grid pack and 60cm dish do?

Re: Rack and pinion - where to get?

I don't know what sort of load you invisage but there is a plastic rack of considerable length in electric car antennas that might fit the bill?

There should a few around that have been broken that you could play with cheaply.

Re: Are hams allowed to repair or modify mains-powered equip

Unfortunately commercial manufacture is no gaurantee of safety and like already has been pointed out, anyone can and does wire up caravans and the like no supervision or license required? If you think all the imported stuff that claims to be compliant is put together by suitably qualified trades peo...

A hb9cv or a zl special will not give you as deep a null as what I proposed but it is on the right track.

Re: 2 element 10m yagi, which should be the parasitic elemen

Wayne, as I understand it which is by no means gospel. If it is absolute gain you are after a director yields slightly more but poorer front to back ratio. If it is front to back ratio you want then the reflector is a better option with ever so slightly reduced gain. An end on dipole without any fee...

Re: Mobile noise in Toyoto Landcruiser

Hi Brian,

There was an article in the September 2007 AR magazine dealing with the noise in a 100 series Toyota it is on page 20 and almost a total cure was achieved. The claimed result was a reduction from 10/9 to about 1/2 an S point on 40 Metres.

Cheers

A Wrap for Ham Radio Opperators

This was found on the Australian 4WD Action Forums. Re: The D-Gas saga continues.... If its electronic, it can be fixed.......its just a matter of finding someone willing to have a go. I would be looking for a Ham Radio operator.......most are very good with electronics and always like a challenge. ...

I am reliably informed that it is delightful to bite off diagonal corners of tim tams and drink port through them using afore mentioned tim tam as a straw? While I have never engaged in this folly I have witnessed others practising the art, I had not seen the need to drink port in this manner :?:
