Actually I don't know the answer to that Lou. I've never been there. Someone at work who lives in a nearby McMansion said there is still some vacant land and Goole Maps suggests there is some sort of parkland there - we shall have to see. :om:

Re: VK3 Microwave Activity Day

the VK3KQ crew might venture out somewhere. The VK3KQ team will indeed be out. Damian and I will be operating at Mt Ridley. For those that don't know where Mt Ridley is (I didn't until yesterday) it's North of the city, somewhere near Craigieburn. Not particularly elevated, but we wanted a challeng...

Re: 2016 Winter VHF/UHF Field Day

Undaunted by the forecast rain, we went ahead and setup our 24 hour station as VK3KQ/p at McLaughlan Lookout (835m ASL), in the Wombat state Forest near the township of Blackwood. Friday's intermittent drizzle, constant fog and the muddy ground made the setup of the masts and antennas a bit more of ...

Re: 2016 Winter VHF/UHF Field Day

I'll be QRV from QF33FW We should have no problem working you in Rutherglen, Theo - we can work stations in your neck of the woods most of the time. Listen out for us VK3KQ/p in QF22DM - we'll be the ones with chattering teeth in sub zero temperatures :wtf: . And if you're friends with my old mate ...

Re: 2016 Winter VHF/UHF Field Day

Thanks Chas - look forward to the contacts. Just heard that Damo and I will need to be on our best behaviour as we are expecting a special guest operator on Saturday and Sunday: Jack VK3WWW (from the VK3ER team) will be joining us as third op. I just hope he remembers which callsign to use ! Cheers,...

Re: 2016 Winter VHF/UHF Field Day

Subject to Wx, the VK3KQ team of two operators will be operating from Mclaughlans Lookout in the Wombat State Forest QF22DM for 24hours - all bands from 6m to 24GHz. We have 4.6KVA generator power budget to work with - and half of that will be dedicated just to keeping warm :D This will the first ou...

Re: John Moyle Fild Day, March 19-20, 2016

It is with regret that I report that VK3KQ/p wont be operating this weekend in the JMMFD. After battling 9 hours of gale force winds, rain, hail, lightening - during which time our brand new jumbo gazebo was destroyed when it blew away and our main operating tent was irreparably damaged when guys an...

Re: John Moyle Fild Day, March 19-20, 2016

VK3KQ/p will be out at usual location QF12VG, around 25km south of Ballarat in the Ross Creek State Forest.

Just two operators this time. Ralph (myself) operating on 6m-70cm and Damian on 1296 up to 10GHz.

We have spotted ourselves on Contest Radar.

Re: Claytons CW

The three TS2000 rigs we use during the V/H f-days all have K-beeps. And they all have buttons to switch them off. I wouldn't be without one. Typically, my operating procedure is to put it on when searching for weak signals up North or out West, and then to switch them off when they are not needed, ...

Re: 2016 Summer VHF-UHF Field Day

Thanks Damian for posting the clips. One thing I have now realised is that the 3ALB team have a table cloth! I think we'll need to duplicate that idea. Their xmas tree was also a very nice touch, but I'd need to be convinced that the LED lighting was compliant with respect to EMR - hate to have it c...

Re: VK6LD/p at Albany awaiting 2M & 70cms across the Bight!

Hi Rob, Many thanks for the contacts on the weekend. It was an absolute delight to speak with you on 2m, and the 70cms contact with Mike (our 6m/70cm operator) were the standout highlights for us. As relative newcomer to the UHF/VHF world of contesting, this was the first time I'd ever experienced s...

Page 2-2 of the manual confirms the antenna requires +5v. Well deduced Chris.
